T-Mobile To Offer The iPhone 5 Contract Free.

Despite being ranked number 4 in the US Cellular line-up, T-Mobile has been throwing quite a few punches that last couple of years. Yesterday, the brand may have thrown the biggest punch yet with the announcement of the iPhone as well as their new “Uncarrier” plans. The new plans basically allow you to sign up for service, however, you no longer have to sign a 2-year contract. The announcement essentially levels the playing field for the little guy and will hopefully force the other carriers to take note and stop charging ridiculous prices for their monthly plans. Politics aside, here are a few details from the announcement.

  • T-Mobile will carry the iPhone 5, 4S, and 4 starting April 12th.
  • Cost is for iPhone 5 is $99 upfront with with 24 months of $20 payments. That rounds out to $579. The same applies to the iPhone 4S at $69.99 down and the iPhone 4 at $14.99.
  • The iPhone 5 will run on LTE, T-Mobile’s “4G” HSPA+ network, and older GSM / EDGE networks. The 4S/4 will only run on HSPA+ and older GSM/EDGE networks.
