Tiger Woods has had an amazing year thus far and Nike Golf is helping the #1 ranked golfer with a special limited edition Nike TW ‘13 Master to celebrate the first Major Championship of the season set to take place in April. Like the original model, the TW’13 features a waterproof multi-stretch synthetic leather upper and a Nike FREE-Inspired outsole. The base remains on the upper and Nike has flipped the colors of the outsole to green to match the color of the coveted jacket. Additionally, the top eyelets has been switched to yellow and just a touch of red has been added to the “TW” logo on the tongue.
The TW’13 was introduced last season at a special media event in San Francisco. I had a chance to sit and talk to the designer, Tobie Hatfield, about the shoe and why Nike Free on a gold shoe. I learned that Tiger was actually training in Nike Free shoes and asked Nike about creating a version for him that he could wear on the course. After some work, the NIke TW’13 was born.
I hav e personally been wearing the TW’13 on the course since it was launched and really like the feel the shoe gives you of the green and the fairway. With the flexible Nike Free outsole, the shoe allows me to obtain more ground feel when swinging. A lot of gold shoes that I’ve worn don’t allow for that flexibility and you usually lift off the ground earlier as a result. In addition to the Nike Free outsole, the TW’13 also features the Nike Dynamic Fit support system with Flywire infused nylon straps that extend 360° from the footbed to the lacing system, keeping you locked and secure inside the shoe.
Available in limited quantities, the Nike TW’13 Masters Limited Edition is set to hit select location on March 28.
