Last week, the good folks in Beaverton unveiled their Nike Basketball Easter collection with the Nike LeBron X, the Kobe 8, and the Nike KD V. Each of the silhouettes have been updated on the color side with bright Spring based upper, with the LeBron getting an tech update. Today, I bring you a closer look at the Kobe 8 “Easter” colorway.
Though the model hasn’t been updated on the tech side, the Kobe 8 still remains a strong choice in the collection. Nike designers have done an amazing job with the color on the upper taking inspiration from egg-painting techniques. As we have seen in the past, the Engineered Mesh takes really well to color and the Kobe 8 Easter is no exception. Black is used as a base throughout, extending from the external heel counter, to the midsole, to the Nike Swoosh, to the liner, to the purple dotted laces. Speaking of purple, the color extends from the lateral quarter panel around to the medial midpanel over the lightweight mesh. Finally, Nike Basketball adds a turquoise, or fiberglass, color to the toe to add some pop to the design.
Though the colors would be enough, Nike Designers took care with the detailing in the Nike Kobe 8 as well. The black midsole is speckled with the fiberglass colorway which helps to pull your eye away from the brighter toe area. Additionally, Nike created a snakeskin print over the rear quarter panel that also appears over the tongue. Lastly, the outsole, though it looks white, is slightly tinted with the fiber glass color and works well with the overall design.
The Nike Kobe 8 “Easter” (Fiberglass/Court Purple/Black/Laser Purple) will be available starting March 29 at select Nike Basketball retailers.
